What a Sunday we have had with the Steelers completing a 4 point weekend with an 8-4 victory in Fife, whilst league leaders, Belfast Giants went down at home to Manchester Storm 5-1

The Chase is on as we head into the final weekend of the season with a Saturday night home game Vs Cardiff followed by a road trip to Coventry Blaze

First Period.

Steelers had the major of the puck and offensive zone time in the opening 10 minutes but couldn’t find a way past Varis in goal for the Flyers.

That changed at 10.28 when Juusola found Balmas for his first time shot to go over Varis’s glove to open the scoring.

Varis then denied Ciampini from close range with an excellent save

15.31 and the Flyers were level when Emmeradahl made a great play to Carozza on the far post for him to deflect home on the backhand (1-1)

That goal seemed to ignite the Steelers who then hit three straight before the period end

15.50 and a great pass for Ciampini found Tremblay at the back door to give the Steelers the advantage once again (1-2)

16.40 and Kevin Tansey double our lead with a silky finish going 5 hole on Varis, what a pass from Colton Saucerman set that one up

19.10 Penalty to the Flyers (Martineau for Hooking)

19.54 Brandon Whistle solo goal with a great wrist shot into the top corner

Steelers lead 4-1 after the first period.

Second Period …

22.24 and Sam Tremblay heads to the box for tripping, the Flyers back on the PP

23.23 and Fife pull it back to 2-4 as Martineau converts

23.56 Steelers turn on the power-play when Carozza sits 2 minutes – Fife kill the penalty

29.42 Tremblay with an outstanding snipe makes it 2-5 going top shelf

30.58 More power-play time for the Flyers as Huutula takes a tripping minor – this time the Steelers kill

38.06 Brandon Whistle takes the puck and shoots in the same motion to score his 2nd of the night and the Steelers 6th

End of the second period … Fife Flyers 2-6 Steelers

Third Period …

Whilst there was 4 goals in the final period, the game lacked the intensity of the earlier periods.

53.42 Brandon Whistle continued his excellent form this time setting up Mikko Juusola for our 7th goal

That goal saw Marco d Filippo take over from Matt Greenfield between the pipes.

57.22 and Carozza grabbed his second of the night with a hammer of a shot to bring the score back to 3-7

57.53 and Steelers were back on the board, captain Robert Dowd winning a battle and being the first to react to a loose puck to slot home (3-8)

59.56 The final goal of the night fell to the Flyers, Chiodo beating De Filippo from close range

Final score: Fife Flyers 4-8 Steelers
