That’s a wrap boys! First season of @PHN_PODCAST comes to a close

The first season of the Pro Hockey News podcast comes to an end this afternoon with the posting of Episode 45.

We got the band back together again with Adam Minnick, Lonny Goldsmith, Richard Cote, and Lou Lafrado for one last fling before the summer really takes hold.

This first year of production really traces its roots back the summer of 2017 when Richard got the puck rolling with a production meeting.  From there, it was a quick evolution to a podcast that went weekly and then developed into two hosting teams.

The podcast grew quickly this season because of the commitment and quality of discussion from Adam, Richard and Lonny.  The banter on both broadcasts has been witty and easy and there is an appeal to the listener that both teams are hockey people.

Throughout most of the season we featured writers, editors and photographers from the Pro Hockey News team and that added a direct link to the coverage on our web site.

The podcast also gave some balance to our print coverage of hockey this season with so many intriguing stories.

Chief among them was the Vegas Golden Knights; you will need to listen to the podcast later today to hear if we complete the sweep of mentioning this club in each of the 45 episodes.

It wasn’t just the NHL we covered on the podcast but we added the AHL, ECHL, SPHL, and Junior hockey coverage this first season, especially on the Second Line podcast.

The formal season to the podcast is complete but the plan is to pop-up with special episodes over the summer as the United Kingdom gets its season going and David Carr makes his appearance on the cast.

The summer hiatus will give the podcast hosts a chance to put the 2017-18 production up on the rack and see where we need a lube and oil job and where we can make some changes to improve the broadcast.

Thanks to Lonny, Richard and Adam on a great, fun season. And we include all of our team and guests over the season in our thanks.

We will begin regular weekly podcasting in September.
