CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars earn the two points for tonight’s game against the Stockton Heat in a fast paced back-and-forth match, with a final score of 4-3.

Stockton opened the scoring in the first period, when Rasmus Andersson passed the puck across the ice to Spencer Foo for the goal from the top of the circle on a power play at 11:52 into the game. The Stars evened the score with 41 seconds remaining while Morgan Klimchuk was serving a penalty, Brent Regner scored.

Klimchuk scored early in the second period, when he deflected a shot from the boards beating Mike McKenna in the net. Foo and Olivier Kylington were credited with the assists. It would only be 16 seconds later, when Colin Markinson’s shot beat Jon Gillies glove-side.

A few minutes later, it appeared that Denis Gurianov’s shot was blocked, but it slid under Jon Gillies outstretched pads and trickled into the net, to give the Stars the 3-2 lead.

Last night’s first star of the game, Brett Pollock, blasted a shot from the hash marks, top shelf, and the teams were tied at three each.
The final goal of the night and ultimate game winner came when Julius Honka’s pass to Gavin Bayreuther beat Gillies top shelf.
Despite the extra skater for the last minute and half, Stockton worked the puck in and around the Stars net, but just couldn’t get anything past McKenna.

Stockton outshot the Stars 29-22.
The AHL All Star event kicks off Sunday, so teams will get a short break. Rasmus Andersson and Curtis McKenzie are among the players from tonight’s game headed to Utica Massachusetts for the event.
Stockton will next be home to face San Jose on Friday, February 2, 2018.
