SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas Stars defeated the San Antonio Rampage 2-1 on Thursday night in a preseason game at Northwoods Ice Center. Stars forward Nino Musitelli scored once and assisted on another goal, leading Texas to a preseason win. Texas winger Kael Mouillierat netted the decisive second-period goal. Texas goalies Michael Teslak and Adrien LeMay split time in net. Teslak played the first half of the game and stopped all ten shots he faced for the win. LeMay stopped 16 of 17 in relief. Texas returns home for a pair of preseason games this Saturday and Sunday at Cedar Park Center. Saturday, the Stars host the Oklahoma City Barons at 7:00 pm.
In the first period, Texas jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead off a wrist shot by Nino Musitelli. The Stars forward snapped a shot from the top of the left-wing circle over the shoulder of Rampage goalie All Montoya at 1:04.
In the second period, Texas capitalized with a five-on-three power-play goal at 5:21. Winger Kael Mouillierat roofed a shot over the left shoulder of Montoya for a 2-0 Stars lead.
In the third period, San Antonio forward Colin Long beat Texas goalie Adrien LeMay at 2:06, pulling the Rampage within a goal at 2-1.
The Texas Stars have one more remaining open practice at Cedar Park Center. Fans may catch the team skate on Friday from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Fans will be able to park and gain entrance to the arena on the north side of the building, via the State Farm Plaza entrance.
The Western Conference Champion Texas Stars will host their first regular season home game at Cedar Park Center on Saturday, October 16th.
