Terry leads Ducks over Blues in OT

In St Louis, Troy Terry scored twice for the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.  His first goal tied the game, 2-2, with the Blues, and the second gave the Ducks a 3-2 win in extra time.

Anthony Stolarz made 23 saves to get the Ducks win.

“Obviously, when you have a road trip like this, you kind of come together as a team and we’re traveling around going city to city,” Stolarz said. “Guys are hanging out in the hotel and whatnot, and that kind of brings that camaraderie together.”

Anaheim improved to 16-9-5.

Terry’s game-winner came off a penalty shot with 62 seconds left in the extra session.

“I was kind of thinking I was going to shoot it because the ice hadn’t been shoveled,” Terry said. “And before the shootout, you at least get like a shovel come through and the ice a little better. I was planning on shooting it and I … decided that once I made that first fake and where it was, I just knew I had to commit to whatever I did. And once I … made that switch, I just tried to commit to it.”

Scott Perunovich was called for slashing on Terry after he lost the puck to the Ducks forward.

“He’s got to be a little bit more cautious and understand the situation a little bit better,” Blues head coach Craig Berube said. “He’s young (23), he’s learning on the fly in the NHL, and sometimes there’s going to be mistakes.”

Oskar Sundqvist and Nathan Walker were the Blues strikers.

Buddy Robinson scored to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead in the first period.

The Blues dropped to 15-8-5.

Jon Gillies made 36 saves in the St Louis loss.

“It’s nice to play a hockey game,” Gillies said. “Obviously, the gap between the starts in this league in particular was honestly much bigger than I thought it was going to be, but the belief never wavered. I know that I can play in this league, I know that I can be very successful in this league. From a personal standpoint, it was just kind of nice to be back is the best way to put it.”
