The Tigers NIHL secured their third success in a row with a 3-1 victory over Billingham Stars at Telford Ice Rink.
Saturday night’s encounter saw the Tigers youngsters race into an early two-goal lead, before being pegged back moments later.
But Telford took victory with a late open-net goal – lifting them to third place in the Moralee Conference standings.
Coach Jason Parry credited his side’s latest success to a continued learning process within the squad.
He said: “I mentioned last week that we’re learning not to give up a lead in games, and it happened again tonight.
“Billingham’s approach shows that every game in this league will be tight. We’re learning to dig in and shut teams down.”
Karol Jets opened Telford’s scoring with a goal after 43 seconds, before Phil Mulcachy doubled the lead on four minutes.
The visitors halved that advantage ten minutes later, as both teams cancelled each other out in a goalless second session.
And with Billingham having pulled their netminder in search of a late equaliser, Daniel Croft sealed victory with an open-net goal on 59 minutes.
Parry added: “I was really happy with the work rate tonight, as this month has been tough, with players missing.
“But the lads who have stepped up are finding ways to grind out wins, which is very important.
“The young guys in the team did a great job tonight, which in turn gives other youngsters the chance to step up.”
The Tigers NIHL are on the road tomorrow, when they make the trip to face top-four rivals Sheffield Spartans.
