Taran Kozun is back for another year with the Devils. The re-signing of the netminder was announced a week ago at the annual Devils Summit in Calgary, Canada.
Kozun had an outstanding first season with the Devils posting a 17-4 record with a 92.08% save percentage and a goals against average of 2.42 per game. He had a record of 5-1 in 6 Challenge Cup games and won his first 10 starts in league action.
Kozun’s signing completes the goaltending tandem for the Devils after Ben Bowns was announced as returning to the Devils a few weeks ago.

Head Coach Brodie Dupont spoke about the Kozun signing:
“Taran is a great goalie and was fantastic for us last season. He started the season by going 11-1, which is not easy when you aren’t starting every night, but he was coming in and playing great when he got the chance.
“One of the key strengths of our team last season was two solid netminders that gave us a chance to win every night. Some teams completely rely on one guy, but the goaltending duo we had last season and the one we have this season will give us a chance to win every night.”

Before signing with the Devils last summer, Kozun spent a year in the ECHL playing for a handful of teams during the Covid stricken season in 2020-21.
Prior to turning pro, the 27 year old played three seasons at the University of Saskatchewan where he was selected onto the USports All-Canadian First All-Star Team in both of his final two seasons. He was also twice voted the Usports Goaltender of the Year and in 2019-20 won the USports Player of the Year for the entire country.
