On The Strip, the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning posted three goals in the third period on Tuesday night to send them past the Golden Knights, 5-3.
Brayden Point hit for a double in the third period for the Lightning.
Andrei Vasilevskiy made 24 saves in the win.
Tampa moved to 37-25-6 off their fourth straight win.
“I’ve had a front row seat to these guys for a decade now, and so it’s great to watch these guys play,” Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said. “They took a little accountability for what happened at the beginning of the game and, as the pros they are, they rallied and were a big reason we won tonight.”
Vegas took a 1-0 lead in the game on a marker from Jonathan Marchessault, scoring off an odd man rush with 74 seconds gone in the game.
Tampa replied with a shorthanded goal from Anthony Cirelli at the seven minute mark for a 1-1 tie.
Anthony Duclair scored midway through the first for a 2-1 lead to the Lighting.
“I want to get to the net as much as possible. I know the puck has been finding me there,” Duclair said. “It was a lucky bounce off of ‘Kuch.’ It just came right to me. I just had to bat it in the air, and luckily it went in.”
Vegas dropped to 36-25-7.
“I didn’t leave the game anxious about how we’re playing,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “When I watch it again, I’ll look at it and say, ‘We played well enough to win but we didn’t.’ You got to make sure you’re putting yourself in position to win every night. We did do that.”
Keegan Kolesar had two assists for Vegas in the loss.
In the middle frame, Brett Howden got the Ki nights even, 2-2, with a strike at 16:52, scoring off a shot from the left circle.
“He plays simple, he plays to his identity,” Kolesar said of Howden. “We were able to come away with a couple tonight, but it wasn’t enough to get the win.”
Point potted his first of the game at 4:52 of the third for a 3-2 lead to the Lightning.
Vegas responded with a strike by Ben Hutton at 8:16 to tie the game, 3-3, scoring off a shot from the slot near the top of the circles.
Tampa salted the game away when Point collected his double at 12:14 for a 4-3 lead, scoring from the left circle.
Nikita Kucherov sealed the win when he hit an empty net at 18:51 for the 5-3 final count on the scoreboard.
