Jeremy Swayman was awarded a one-year, $3.475 million contract with the Boston Bruins by an independent arbitrator on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old goalie had a salary arbitration hearing on Sunday. Swayman was the third of 22 restricted free agents who filed for arbitration to have a hearing, joining Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Ilya Samsonov (awarded one-year, $3.55 million contract) and Chicago Blackhawks forward Philipp Kurashev (two-year, $4.5 million contract).
He can be a restricted free agent at the end of this season.
Swayman was 24-6-4 with a 2.27 goals-against average, .920 save percentage and four shutouts in 37 regular-season games (33 starts) for the Bruins last season, and 0-1 with a 3.34 GAA and .875 save percentage in two Stanley Cup Playoff games.
He and Linus Ullmark shared the William M. Jennings Trophy for allowing the fewest goals (174) during the regular season.
Selected by Boston in the fourth round (No. 111) of the 2017 NHL Draft, Swayman is 54-23-7 with a 2.24 GAA, .920 save percentage and nine shutouts in 88 regular-season games (82 starts). He is also 3-4 with a 2.79 GAA and .901 save percentage in eight playoff games (six starts).
