Swamp Rabbits bring back Charleson

Charleson returns to the Swamp Rabbits after turning professional with the team at the end of last season. He made his professional debut in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Kansas City Mavericks on March 15, stopping 21 of 24 shots. He followed up 13 days later with his first professional win, stopping 31 of 34 shots against Atlanta at home on March 28. Charleson concluded the season with a 2-4-1 record, a 3.12 goals-against average and .898 save percentage, allowing three goals or less in five of his eight appearances.

From Aurora, Ontario, Charleson, turned professional following his final college season with Niagara University, registering an 18-13-3 record with a pair of shutouts, a 2.76 goals-against average and .921 save percentage. In total, he played in five collegiate seasons with Niagara, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and Michigan State University, compiling a career record of 35-36-6 with three shutouts, a 2.83 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.

Before going to college, he spent a pair of seasons with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Brooks Bandits, helping the team capture the 2019 AJHL and RBC Cup championships while earning Top Team Goaltender honors with a 42-2-0 record in 44 games.
