Sunday’s EIHL fixtures in years gone by

There have been 35 games played on 2 November across the Elite League’s history. This date has strongly favoured home teams, with only seven road wins and one tie – leaving the home side victorious on 27 occasions.

Glasgow Clan face a must-win Challenge Cup game against Dundee Stars at Braehead Arena, but history favours the visitors. In 15 previous Cup fixtures in Glasgow, the Stars have taken the points 11 times. Clan have just three regulation wins and one in overtime from those meetings.

Fife Flyers could be up against it tonight as they host Sheffield Steelers. The Yorkshire side have won 25 of their 34 league visits to Kirkcaldy – a record matched only by Cardiff Devils, who hold the same win percentage at Fife Ice Arena. On average, the Steelers restrict the Flyers to just two goals per game in Kirkcaldy, the lowest figure for any visiting team in EIHL history.

While neither Guildford Flames nor Cardiff Devils can advance from the Challenge Cup, the Devils will be keen to maintain their impressive Cup record at the Spectrum. Since Guildford joined the Elite League, the Flames have managed just two home Cup wins over Cardiff, while the Devils have claimed nine victories. If the game goes beyond 60 minutes, the Flames have never beaten the Devils in Cup play on home ice.
