LONDON, UK – Streatham Redskins snapped up fiesty forward Michael Ranby this week, in a bid to boost the team’s firepower. Ranby had impressed in trials with the South London club and put pen to paper after brief talks with Head Coach Barry Spours.
The 21 year old winger was a standout in a disappointing Haringey Greyhounds side last season, and he notched an impressive 15 goals and 11 assists in 30 appearances for the troubled North London side.
Ranby started his senior career with home club Lee Valley and made his début for the Lions in the 2005/06 season. Aside from scoring goals, Ranby also is no stranger to the penalty box and racked up 121 minutes last year. showing an aggressive streak that should prove popular at the High Road. Noted for the partisan atmosphere they create, Streatham fans are part of the reason Ranby chose to head down to South London:
“The atmosphere in the old rink is a real plus point” said Ranby. “The spirit within the team and also up in the stands from the loyal fanbase is something I have always noticed when I have played against the Redskins, so obviously its an attractive proposition to be part of that,
“Barry (Spours) is putting together a competitive team, in what has become a rapidly improving league. He is a well respected coach and I am just looking forward to the season starting”
Streatham are now close to completing their roster and fans can expect to see at least one new face signing with the club before the opening fixture on September 5th against Invicta Dynamos.
