Manchester Storm moved into second with a 4-1 road win over Dundee Stars on Sunday night.
The Stars had an excellent early chance when Kris Inglis deflected a puck narrowly into Drew DeRidder midway through the first period, while Dallas Ehrhardt and Ethan DeSouza dropped the gloves with 6:44 left in the frame to fire up the Dundee ICe Arena
Storm took the lead late in the opening period when Joseph Nardi fired from the slot with 57 seconds remaining to make it 1-0 after 20 minutes. Morten Jurgens tied things up 4:04 into the second, but two goals ten minutes apart restored the away side’s advantage. Nardi grabbed his second of the night at 33:56 after capitalising on a turnover, giving Storm a 2-1 lead through two periods.
Stephen Johnson added a third 3:40 into the final frame, with the play reviewed for a potential high stick but the goal standing. Jurgens thought he’d pulled one back for Dundee at 51:05, but his effort was ruled out after review for being played into the net with a kicking motion
With 43 seconds to play, Emil Kruse headed to the bench for an extra attacker, but Loren Ulett fired into the empty net from his own zone just six seconds later to seal a convincing win for the Storm.
