“It’s good getting the win,” Stolarz said. “For me to come out there and kind of just hold the fort down for the team, they did a great job too. I think 3-to-1 we were out-blocking them (19-7), so credit to the boys in front of me.”

Oskar Lindblom scored the only goal of the game early in the first period.

“It was nice to get an early [goal],” Lindblom said. “We played very well in the [offensive] zone, and Stolarz was a monster back there, so it was a good game for us.”

The Flyers improved to 21-23-6.

“I think there were probably five or six chances there that we could have put in and we’re probably looking at a different outcome, but hats off to [Stolarz], he played a great game for sure,” Rangers defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk said. “You hate to be beat by the other team’s goalie, but he came in here and stood tall.”

New York dropped to 21-21-7 and had their three-game win streak snapped.

“He (Stolarz) played well,” Kevin Hayes said. “We had some really good opportunities. We didn’t give them much actually. They scored early in the first and maybe had one or two good looks after that. I thought we played well as a team and obviously we didn’t score, and when you don’t score you can’t win.”

Alexandar Georgiev made 18 saves in the hard luck loss.

“It wasn’t maybe the perfect game or our best game, but I thought coming off this break and they got a little rust out yesterday, I thought we did a pretty good job. You limit them to under 20 shots and get over 35 and it’s a 1-0 game, we’re not happy with the result, but I think we can keep building off this,” Mika Zibanejad said after the loss.
