Stockton slip past Rampage, 3-1

SAN ANTONIO  – Hunter Shinkaruk’s third-period goal snapped a 2-2 tie to lift the Stockton Heat (30-25-4-2) to a 3-2 win over the San Antonio Rampage (25-36-5-2) on Friday night at the AT&T Center.

Stockton opened the scoring with a pair of first-period goals.  Mikkel Aagaard gave the Heat an early 1-0 lead at 2:19, knocking Morgan Klimchuk’s rebound past Rampage goalie Spencer Martin.  Andrew Mangiapane extended the Heat lead later in the period when he registered a power-play goal from Mike Angelidis and Mark Jankowski at 16:55.

San Antonio countered with a pair of second-period power-play goals to even the score at two.  Eric Gelinas netted his first goal of the season beating Stockton goalie Jon Gillies with a one-time slap shot from the blue line at 2:36.  Rocco Grimaldi later scored his team-leading 29th goal of the season at 8:14 to tie the game.

With the contest up for grabs, Shinkaruk landed the game-winning goal at 11:26 of the third period to extend Stockton’s point streak on the road to five games.
