Stingrays stun Clan

Rapid Solicitors Hull Stingrays produced a fantastic fightback as they beat Elite League leaders Braehead Clan 3-2 in Glasgow.

Stingrays, without injured captain Matty Davies, scored twice in the final period as they came from two goals down to claim a massive victory. Hull Stingrays logo

Matt Keith (2.57) and Stefan Meyer (9.23) put Clan 2-0 ahead but Jordan Knox halved the deficit at 13.51, with Carl Lauzon claiming an assist on his 100th appearance for Stingrays.

Jordan Mayer, with a joint-team high 21st goal of the season, tied it up at 2-2 at 44.15 before Zach Hervato scored the game-winning goal at 54.36.

Player-coach Omar Pacha said: “I thought we played well for the whole game.

“Even in the first 10 minutes we came out strong but they got a couple of bounces and Knoxy got a big goal driving to the net which we had been practising all week.

“We then got a few chances in the third and buried them. We played a really good road game and battled for 60 minutes.

“We came here with the right mindset and everyone stepped up and it was a massive result.

“But you cannot get too high when you win and too low when you lose and we have another important game against Fife tomorrow.

“We are fighting for sixth spot and if we compete hard like we did tonight then we have a chance to make it a four-point weekend.”
