Rapid Solicitors Hull Stingrays suffered their first defeat in regulation time in six games as they went down 5-0 to Fife Flyers in Kirkcaldy in the Elite League.
After a scoreless first period, Stingrays conceded twice in 64 seconds through goals from Jordan Fulton (25.05 powerplay) and Matt Reber (26.09).
Scott Fleming made it 3-0 at 37.17 and rounded off the scoring on the powerplay at 52.53, sandwiching a Reber goal (41.25).
Goaltender Kevin Regan made 24 saves as Stingrays were shut-out for the fourth time this season.
Player-coach Omar Pacha said: “We were not good enough, we got outplayed and that is disappointing.
“Our face-offs were awful all night and it did not allow us to have puck possession. But we were not prepared well enough and I take responsibility for that.
“We must be better than that, we cannot get outworked. We have had a good run but we need to get back to basics and follow the system. When we do that we are a good team.
“We had a good talk after the game because it was just not good enough. But tomorrow is a new day and we now need to focus on Edinburgh, which will be another tough game.”
