Rapid Solicitors Hull Stingrays can confirm the signing of Canadian forward Grant Toulmin for the 2015/16 Elite League campaign.
The 26-year-old native of Langley, British Columbia, played for Heilbronner Falken in Germany’s DEL2 last season, posting 32 points (11 goals and 21 assists) in 55 games.
Before that, Toulmin, who is 6ft 5in and 209lbs, had three years with Nipissing University, totalling 68 points (31 goals and 37 assists) in 85 matches.
Toulmin also had a year with Mount Royal University in 2010/11 – winning a championship – with the five previous seasons being spent in the WHL and BCHL.
Player-coach Omar Pacha said: “Grant is a kid with great size and a great work ethic.
“Coach [Mike] McParland from Nipissing explained he developed a lot as an offensive player in college and he believes he has a lot more in the tank, which is exciting for the Stingrays.
“He’s got good speed for his size and plays well in all three zones. He loves the puck possession game and protects the puck well in the corners.
“I think he will do really well in our system. He will develop in Hull as a premium offensive threat with a good edge to his game.”
Toulmin joins Pacha, Carl Lauzon, Matty Davies, David Brown, Yan Turcotte, Sam Towner, David Phillips, Jamie Chilcott, Hugo Turcotte and Brett Switzer on next season’s roster.
