The Carolina Hurricanes have been busy over the last couple of days. Yesterday, they announced the signing of UFA centre Derek Stepan. Today it’s more of that as they have signed another UFA, this time a winger in Stefan Noesen.
The deal comes in at $750,000 in the NHL, $250,000 AHL salary, with $300,000 guaranteed. While top players such as Dougie Hamilton, Seth Jones, and Zach Hyman have all hit their paydays, the flat cap has left depth players in the dust.
Noesen is a capable fourth-line winger with over 200 games of NHL experience. He is in the prime years of his career, and yet he had to take a pay cut from last year’s $925,000 salary in Toronto/San Jose.
The 28-year-old winger appeared in six NHL games in 2020-21.
