Steelheads claim game four over Americans to stay alive

ALLEN, Texas – Facing the brink of elimination in their Mountain Division Semi-Final Series with the Allen Americans on Friday night, the Idaho Steelheads battled to a 2-1 win in enemy territory in front of 4,363 fans at the Allen Event Center.

Steven McParland scored the game-winning goal 57-seconds into the final frame, on assists from Joe Faust and Philippe Desrosiers. With Allen’s Casey Pierro-Zabotel in the box serving a high-sticking minor, McParland brought the puck into the zone on the right side, worked his way to the middle of the ice and fired a shot past Allen’s Jake Paterson for the 2-1 tally.

Allen opened the scoring 10:55 into the game on a J.C. Campagna goal from Bryan Moore. Campagna skated the puck across the blue-line and managed to find the net past Idaho’s Desrosiers despite being pestered by three separate Steelheads defenders on his way to the 1-0 lead.

Idaho evened the score 14:02 into the second period on a Brady Bassart goal from Charlie Dodero and Shane Hanna that rang the post and fell into the net. Just over six-minutes later McParland broke the tie and the Steelheads went on to claim their first win of the series.

Game five is set for a 6:05pm CDT face-off at the Allen Event Center on Sunday. An Idaho win on Sunday shifts the series to Boise for game six on Tuesday, while an Allen win closes out the series and advances the Americans into the Western Division Finals Series.
