Steelers host Flames on Wednesday night

Week 10’s midweek action comes from the Utilita Arena on Wednesday night, as the Sheffield Steelers welcome the Guildford Flames.

The two sides come into the game off the back of contrasting weekends. Sheffield were shut out by the Cardiff Devils on Sunday, falling to a 4-0 defeat in their only outing of the week, while Guildford bounced back from a midweek loss in Coventry to beat Glasgow Clan in overtime and end their week on a positive note.

The familiarity between these teams continues to grow: Wednesday’s clash will be their third meeting in just over a fortnight, and they’ll face each other again on Sunday in Surrey.

Historically, Sheffield have dominated this fixture at home. In 21 league meetings at the Utilita Arena, the Steelers have taken the points 15 times, while the Flames have won six. The teams have also drawn twice: once in the 2018 Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals, and once way back in 2005 during the Crossover Cup, which ended goalless.
