Steelers come from behind to beat the Panthers 7-4 on the Road

A dominating performance on the road by The Steelers as they beat the Panthers 7-4.

Danny Kristo (2), Ciampini, Latal, Dowd, Whistle and Neumann the scorers.

First period.

Panthers opened the scoring after 2.50 with Sorenson scoring high over the glove of Matt Greenfield.

Daniel Ciampini levelled at 4.33, Brett Neumann assisting after a scramble the puck fell to Ciampini who slotted home

David Levin had Panthers in front at 9.39 (2-1) as the game ebbed and flowed.

Dowd set up Martin Latal who used his speed to set up Danny Kristo at 12.15 for 2-2

Steelers took the only penalty of the period, a bench minor for too many men on the ice and the Panthers took full advantage with Brett Welychka netting 17.28

Second Period. 

Less than 2 minutes into the middle period and Dowdy set up[ Martin Latal who blasted past Berry to tie the game 3-3

With Caruso off for boarding (Matt Petgrave) The Steelers took the lead for the first time with a power-play goal from Danny Kristo (Schulze)

Adam Brady levelled at 32.34 as he raced to the net first to deflect past Greenfield for 4-4

The scoring wasn’t over as the impressive Kristo scored his second with a blast top shelf with 5.41 to go in the period.

Nottingham had their chances on two late power-plats, the first against Connolly for tripping and then with 36 seconds left in the period Petgrave for holding

Panthers start the final period with 86 more second with the one man advantage

Third Period

Steelers were in control for the final 20 minutes and added two further goals to their tally.

A stunning goal from Brandon Whistle at 44.44 secured the victory and dampened out any lingering hopes of a Panthers comeback.

Brett Neumann found the empty net to round off scoring at 57.43

Steelers head back to Sheffield to take on the Manchester Storm on Sunday
