Steelers completed their league season with a 4-1 home victory over the Coventry Blaze at the Arena on Sunday night.
It was a result that saw the Blaze knocked out of play-off contention whilst the Steelers have the tough task of facing local rivals Nottingham Panthers in the quarter-finals next weekend.

After a scoreless first period, it was the Steelers who took the lead in the 22nd minute. A well worked goal including Valdix and Nelson before Dowd fired home for 1-0.
The Blaze were fighting for their very existence and at 32.43 they received a lifeline from former Steeler Ashley Tait, he fired past Moose and the game was tied 1-1.
Into the final period and Armstrong takes the puck into the paint and finished from close range – unassisted. Steelers led 2-1, the eventual game winner.
It was the first of three third period goals for Paul Thompson’s side.
