Steelers blank Storm, 6-0

After victory in Nottingham last night, the Steelers continue to dominate their group in Challenge Cup competition with a comfortable six goal victory over the Manchester Storm. All six goals coming from six different scoreres, after six different scorers last night.

We welcomed a new family member to the club tonight as both Warbuton and McLaughlin were unavailable meaning 20-year-old Lewis King would back up the in-form Matthew Greenfield. With Sebastian Piche still in Prague on Paternity leave, Connolly was once again on defensive duties.

The Steelers were nearly up by one within the first minute of the game as Neumann backhanded a shot up into the Storm net but Lavigne had lifted the net from its moorings. Lavigne was called for a delay of the game penalty but the goal didn’t stand.

In what then seemed like a potential repeat of Wednesday night, the Steelers dominated the remainder of first period, but a breakthrough couldn’t be found. It was therefore a period of penalty kills as the Steelers picked up four different penalties to the Storms single call.
