Stars topple Kings in OT

In Dallas, Miro Heiskanen struck for a game-tying goal on Friday night to force extra time with the visiting Los Angeles Kings.

Denis Gurianov completed the rally when he scored with just 45 seconds left in the extra session for a 3-2 win.

Braden Holtby made 43 saves to help the Stars improve to 3-2-0.

“It’s a game because of Braden,” Stars head coach Rick Bowness said. “He did his job and clearly we were not on top of our game for two periods. He kept us in there and gave us a chance to win.”

Anze Kopitar scored his sixth of the campaign to open the game’s offense.

“We certainly had our opportunities, you want to put the game away,” Kopitar said. “We had the lead again going into the third (period) and we gave it up. Yeah, we’ll take the one point, but we definitely should not be satisfied with that point.”

LA dropped to 1-2-1.

Heiskanen’s third period goal was off the power play, Dallas was 2-for-4 with the extra skater.

Dallas’ second goal of regulation came from Tyler Seguin.

“We thought we had a lot more to give,” Seguin said. “There’s nothing really pretty about tonight, our game. But good teams find ways, and we did tonight. It’s something for us to build off of. We want to make this a hard place to play.”

The Kings were 1-for-6.

“Obviously, you don’t want to see him go down — it doesn’t matter who it is,” Kopitar said. “It’s one of your teammates, and when somebody goes down, it’s not a good feeling. So hopefully it’s nothing too serious.”

Gabriel Vilardi also scored for LA in regulation.

Drew Doughty left the game with an apparent injury.

Jonathan Quick made 19 saves in the loss.
