CEDAR PARK, Texas — Stars’ forward Brian Flynn stuffed in a rebound just 1:55 into overtime to give Texas a 1-0 series lead in their best-of-five Pacific Division match-up. The game winner was set up by Roope Hintz who had two assists on the night.

Texas took a 1-0 lead early in the first period. Sheldon Dries scored his first career playoff goal after a nifty pass from behind the net from Colin Markison.

Texas appeared to have things well in hand despite missing some great open net opportunities, but Ontario roared back in the second period to take a 2-1 lead. Matt Roy tipped in a shot from the point and Jonny Brodzinski beat Mike McKenna from the slot after a sloppy turnover in the Stars’ zone.

Denis Gurianov tied the game at two after a nice crossing pass from Hintz. Then Travis Morin converted a Curtis McKenzie pass to give the Stars the lead.

“I thought our third period was our best period,” Head Coach Derek Laxdal said. “I switched our lines around a bit to try to create some energy and the guys responded well.”

Ontario tied the game at three with goaltender Cal Peterson pulled for the extra man. Matt Moulson stuffed the puck past McKenna from a scrum in front of the net, sending the game into overtime.

McKenna stopped 38 of 41 shots while Peterson had 26 saves in a losing effort.
