In Tampa, the visiting Dallas Stars rallied from a 1-3 deficit and defeated the Lightning, 4-3 on Thursday night.
Tyler Seguin struck for the winner just past the halfway mark of extra time.
After Lightning forward Tyler Johnson missed an open net, Seguin took the puck the other way on a 2-on-1 and beat the near post.
“I tried to go high and sure enough I kind of came in on that angle,” Seguin said. “Instincts just took over.”
Anton Khudobin made 45 saves for the win.
“We’ll take it and run,” Dallas head coach Rick Bowness said. “That’s the worst game we’ve played for a while, so we’ll take it and run. [Khudobin] was great. You know what, we weren’t very good and that’s clear. But you know what, I’m very proud of the way that the guys fought back in the third period.”
Mikhail Sergachev, Alex Killorn and Ondrej Palat scored for the Lightning who are 3-1-1 in their last five.
“Last couple of weeks we’ve played good hockey, played good defense and not turning the puck over as much as we used to do,” Palat said. “But we’ve got to be better, it’s not good enough.”
Alexander Radulov staked Dallas to a 1-0 lead before the Bolts reeled off three straight goals.
Radek Faksa scored late in the middle frame to end the Bolts’ run.
Jason Dickinson scored in the third period to get the game even at 3-3 and send it to the extra session.
“I saw they were changing,” Dickinson said. “I tried to penetrate to the middle and was able to make a move on the first guy. I was just thinking ‘Get to the net’ in case it might squirt out, and it did.”

Andrei Vasilevskiy made 16 saves in the loss.
“We feel pretty good about our game, and if we continue to play the way we’re playing right now, it’ll start being two points instead of one,” Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said.
