Stars rally late, down Kraken, 4-3, in OT Stars keep pace, stay clear atop Central Division.

In Seattle, the Kraken let a late 3-2 lead over the Dallas Stars slip away on Saturday night.Joe Pavelski scored with less than two minutes left in regulation to tie the game, 3-3, and force extra time.

Dallas’ Miro Heiskanen  scored with 94 seconds left in the extra session for the 4-3 win.

“That was a great pass for us by ‘Maxie,'” Heiskanen said. “It’s a great saucer. [I tried] to find an open space and go there and [a] great pass by him.”

Jake Oettinger made 28 saves in the Dallas win.

“That was unbelievable,” Stars forward Mason Marchment said. “Just shows the resiliency of our group and I don’t think there was a doubt that we weren’t gonna come back and win that one. I think we played a great game, [a] great road game, and that was a huge one.”

The Stars improved to 36-17-13 with their sixth win in the last eight matches.

“It’s huge,” Oettinger said. “I mean, all these games late in the season feel like [Stanley Cup] Playoff games and this is an unreal arena and the atmosphere is great. So, it felt like a playoff game and just happy that we could come out with a win.”

Seattle’s Ryan Donato tied the game, 2-2, midway through the third period.

Oliver Bjorkstrand scored to push the Kraken into the lead with a power play marker at 16:35.

The Kraken dropped to 37-22-7 off their second straight loss.

“We play them in two days again,” Seattle coach Dave Hakstol said. “There’s some little areas of the game that we’ll look at. It was a real competitive hockey game all the way through.”

The loser’s point pushed Seattle into third place, one point ahead of the Edmonton Oilers in the Pacific Division. The Oilers lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs, 7-4, on Saturday.

Dallas’ Roope Hintz and the Kraken’s Jordan Eberle exchanged first period goals for a 1-1 tie.

Dallas then took the lead, 2-1 midway through the opening stanza on a goal from Marchment .

“I think we played a really good game,” Marchment said. “So just keep pushing, right? We had our guys out there at the end and we took advantage of some of their mistakes and, you know, it was huge.”

Philipp Grubauer made 21 saves in the Kraken loss.
