Stars rally in third to send Ducks to 10th straight loss

In Anaheim, the Ducks lost their 10th straight game on Tuesday night, 302, to the Dallas Stars.

The early promise of the campaign flickered weeks ago, but the current skid has put an end to the enthusiasm.

“It shouldn’t matter if you’ve won 10 in a row or lost 10 in a row. It goes back to what we’ve believed in all year: come in and win the day,” Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins said. “That’s it. Whatever we’ve lost here in a row, what does that matter about tomorrow? It should matter nothing about tomorrow.”

Dallas rallied for two goals in the third period to get the win.

Roope Hintz and Jacob Peterson  were the third period strikers.

Jake Oettinger made 26 saves in the Dallas win.

“We don’t get fooled by the standings,” Dallas coach Rick Bowness said. “The most important thing is we play Dallas Stars hockey,”

The Stars improved to 37-25-3.

“We were getting enough scoring chances that the guys just know,” Bowness said. “They’ve been there before, they’ve been through this, and you just stay with it.”

Derek Grant and Troy Terry hit for goals in the middle frame to give the Ducks a 2-1 lead.

The Ducks fell to 27-30-11, when the skid started Anaheim had hopes of a wild card spot.

“It was one of the better games I’ve ever seen [Gibson] play in terms of plays that should be goals,” Anaheim’s Trevor Zegras said. “He made four or five saves that I’m just sitting on the bench shaking my head. It’s definitely pretty devastating to not get the win for him.”

Luke Glendening put the Stars up, 1-0, in the first period.

John Gibson made 29 saves in the Anaheim loss.
