Devan Dubnyk kept the Wild in the game in the first period when stopped all 14 shots he faced.  The ice for most of the game was tilted into the Wild defensive zone but the first period in particular was played almost entirely in the Minnesota zone.

The first goal resulted from a steal in the neutral zone by Ales Hemsky who took the puck down the left side and fed Faksa for a one-timer to beat Dubnyk.

The third period was just more of the same as the Stars added goals from Patrick Eaves and Jamie Benn.

Eaves added an assist on the night and Benn had the goal and three points in the win.

Kari Lehtonen picked up the win on 22 saves.

Game 2 is Saturday in Dallas.
