Stars outshine Rampage, 6-1

SAN ANTONIO  – The San Antonio Rampage (18-19-7-0) finished a 3-in-3 weekend with a 6-1 loss to the Texas Stars (23-16-3-3) in front of 4,211 at the AT&T Center on Sunday. Former Rampage captain Greg Rallo led the Stars with two goals and an assist, and the Rampage got their lone goal from Sam Henley.

Despite outshooting the Stars 18-13 and matching a season high for shots in a period, the Rampage trailed 2-0 at the end of the first period. Texas got a goal from Derek Hulak just over three minutes in, and Curtis McKenzie picked up his seventh of the season at 11:18. Texas Stars Logo

Greg Rallo potted two goals in the second stanza, the first of which was a wrister from the left circle, to make it 3-0 at 4:40 and prompt coach Dean Chynoweth to replace Spencer Martin with Roman Will in net. Rallo’s second marker came on the power play and gave Texas a 4-0 lead at the second intermission.

Radek Faksa scored early in the final frame to extend the Stars’ lead to five goals. Sam Henley notched his third of the season late in the final period to get the Rampage on the board, but the Stars bagged one more goal, Travis Morin’s 12th of the season, five of which have come against the Rampage.

The Rampage finished 0-for-2 on the power play and were outshot 34-31.
