In Newark Sunday, the Dallas Stars made the most of their limited opportunities in a 2-1 overtime win over the New Jersey Devils.

Kari Lehtonen made 20 saves for the win as the Stars improved to 31-33-11.

Blake Coleman staked the Devils to a 1-0 lead they nursed until the Stars rallied.

It was Coleman’s first NHL goal.

“I’m pretty familiar with a lot of guys in that [Stars] locker room,” Coleman said. “So guys like Jamie Benn coming up and saying, ‘Congrats’ is pretty special. I will be able to remember that and share with friends and family back home.”

New Jersey is just 2-12-3 in their last 17 games.

Ales Hemsky tied the game for the Dallas with a goal with just over six minutes left in regulation.

Tyler Seguin completed the rally with a power play goal just 20 seconds into extra time for the Stars win.

“We knew coming in they were having a tough time scoring, but we just focused on our game and wanted to get better on the road,” Seguin said. “It was a good start to our [five-game road] trip.”
