Stars give up lead, down Ducks3-2, on skills Ducks rally to tie, but Dallas wins on penalties

In Dallas, Anaheim’s Jakob Silfverberg and Adam Henrique  scored 86 seconds apart in the third period to rally the Ducks to a 2-2 tie with the Stars on Monday night.

“In the third period, we did a way better job with the puck,” Silfverberg said. “We got the one point tonight, played an OK game, we’ve just got to keep pushing it.”

The goals were enough to get the Ducks to extra time and pick up a point in a 3-2 loss to Dallas on skills.

Dallas took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal from Nils Lundkvist at 8:06.

“When Nils is moving his feet, the rest of the things take care of themselves,” Dallas coach Peter DeBoer said. “You can see when he’s fresh, he’s a different player.”

Jake Oettinger made 32 saves in the Dallas win.

Tyler Seguin was credited with the deciding goal.

The Stars improved to 29-13-10.

Roope Hintz extended the Dallas advantage to 2-0 in the second period.

“I think the chances we gave them are mostly our mistakes,” Silfverberg said. “They weren’t doing anything super special out there.”

Anaheim dropped to 16-29-6,

“Everyone that played stepped up and did a good job,” Silfverberg said. “We got one point tonight. We’ll take that and move on to Chicago tomorrow.”

John Gibson made 39 saves in the Ducks loss.

“He was really good,” Silfverberg said. “He made some highlight saves, that’s for sure. He’s our star player and he showed that tonight. He’s been terrific for us. It’s good to see that he’s locked in.”
