In Dallas, Jason Robertson scored twice for the Stars in a 3-2 win over the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night.
The win was the sixth straight for Dallas.
“This is part of his growth as a player,” Dallas head coach Rick Bowness said. ” … He’s a top offensive player. He makes plays and he hangs on to pucks, and right now it’s going for him. He could have had a hat trick tonight himself, a couple of good looks, but that’s what we expect from him.”
Jake Oettinger made 20 saves in the Stars win.
After Robertson scored to give the Stars a 1-0 lead,
Boone Jenner and Alexandre Texier replied to push Columbus into+ a 2-1 advantage.
“When things are not going that well, you try to keep it simple,” Texier said. “I thought we tried to keep it (simple) as a team, and I try to do that too. But at the end we care about the result, so we have to learn and move on.”
Columbus dropped to 12-9-0.
“They’re a big-bodied team, they get rolling and they do a really good job of getting to the net,” Columbus head coach Brad Larsen said. “You’ve got to be boxing out, you’ve got to do a real good job there. We got chasing a little bit there. I thought the first period, like I said, they had two chances in the first minute, minute and a bit, and they didn’t have anything the rest of the period.
“They’re at home, they’ve been playing well. They’re going to get a response, and they came. It’s a veteran team. They’ve got four lines with good size, they started to come. We had to weather their storm there.”
Tyler Seguin tied the game, 2-2, at 16:25 of the middle frame.
“Just got back to our style, which is our forecheck,” Seguin said. “We all know how we defend. Started winning a lot more puck battles and started competing, and really had a five-man unit out there. Once that happened, I thought the game was ours.”
The Stars improved to 12-7-2.
Robertson’s second goal was the game-winner a minute after Seguin’s tying strike.
Daniil Tarasov made 34 saves in the Blue Jackets loss; it was his NHL debut.
“I just woke up probably 8 a.m.,” Tarasov said. “[Cleveland general manager Chris Clark] called me and said, ‘Hey buddy, you’re called up cause [Korpisalo] is out, so get ready to play if you’re needed.’ So, I just packed my suit and went to the practice rink. Grabbed my gear and went to the airport.”
