Stars ease past Jets, 4-1 Stars leap frog Jets for first in Central - Update to follow

In Dallas, the Stars scored three ties in the opening stanza on Thursday night in a 4-1 win over the visiting Winnipeg Jets.

Jake Oettinger made 25 saves in the win.

The Stars improved to 36-17-9, snapping out of a slump that had them losing six of seven matches.

The first period outburst was kicked off by Jason Robertson at 6:52 for a 1-0 lead to Dallas.

The Stars then added two goals in a 96-second span for the 3-0 lead coming out of the first.

Joe Pavelski scored at 16:41 to push the advantage to 2-0, his goal came off a one-handed effort to get the puck home

Logan Stankoven s then scored his third goal since taking a spot on the roster.

He scored at 18:17 off a steal, giving Dallas the 3-0 lead.

Stankoven set a Dallas franchise record with his third goal in the first week of his NHL career.

The Jets dropped to 37-16-5, ending a four-game streak.

Vladislav Namestnikov trimmed the deficit to 3-1 for Winnipeg when he scored at 13:24  of the middle frame.

Roope Hintz sealed the win for Dallas when he hit an empty net with 70 seconds left on the regulation clock for the 4-1 final count on the scoreboard.

Connor Hellebuyck made 32 saves in the loss.
