Stars drubbed by Rampage on the road, 5-1

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Stars were defeated by San Antonio 5-1 on Friday night in front of 7, 701 fans at AT&T Center. After Texas claimed a 1-0 lead, the Rampage scored the next five to end a four-game winless skid (0-4-0-0). Former Texas goalie Matt Climie (15-7-0) made 26 saves in net for the Rampage win. Texas goalie Richard Bachman (13-6-2) suffered the loss with 18 saves. Stars forward Fabian Brunnstrom scored the lone Texas goal in the first period.
 
Texas gained an early lead 4:10 into the first period after left wing Fabian Brunnstrom beat Rampage goalie Matt Climie with a slapshot. Brunnstrom’s ninth goal of the year gave the Stars a 1-0 lead. San Antonio countered with a power-play goal at 16:33. Andrew Ebbett’s eighth goal of the season tied the game 1-1.
 
Rampage right wing Matt Watkins pushed San Antonio in front 2-1 with a wraparound goal 1:44 into the second period. He was set up by defensemen Maxim Goncharov and Nolan Yonkman. San Antonio notched another goal 1:20 later by center Tyler Mosienko. Right wing Matt Pope and Yonkman each provided an assist for the 3-1 lead at 3:04.
 
Midway through the third, San Antonio defenseman and former Texas Star Garrett Stafford made it 4-1 at 10:06. San Antonio left wing Mikkel Boedker notched his ninth goal of the season at 12: 41 of the third for the 5-1 final.
 
The Stars return home to take on the Lake Erie Monsters Saturday.
