Stars brush by San Antonio 3-2 in OT

CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Stars defeated San Antonio 3-2 in overtime on Monday night in front of 4,339 fans at Cedar Park Center. Texas right wing Greg Rallo had a three-point night, including the game-winning goal 31 seconds into overtime for the victory. Rallo also scored the game-tying goal with 6:38 left in regulation to go along with an assist in his 300th career pro game. Texas goalie Richard Bachman (16-10-2) stopped 27 of 29 shots to preserve the win and bring Texas to 13-7-3-1 at home. Stars center Aaron Gagnon scored a goal and added an assist as Texas moved to 5-1-0-1 against San Antonio this season. San Antonio center Bracken Kearns had two assists, while forward Alexandre Picard and defenseman Maxime Goncharov netted goals for the Rampage.  San Antonio goalie Matt Climie (16-11-0) made 37 saves as Texas outshot San Antonio 40-29.
 
The Stars struck first with 2:13 left in the opening period with a power-play goal by center Aaron Gagnon. Right wing Greg Rallo and defenseman Brad Lukowich each tallied an assist to give the Stars a 1-0 lead. San Antonio defenseman Maxime Goncharov tied the game late in the first with eight seconds remaining on the power play. Forwards Matt Watkins and Bracken Kearns each supplied an assist to end the first period tied 1-1.
 
San Antonio took a 2-1 lead midway through the second period at 9:26 with a goal by Alexandre Picard. The Rampage forward slipped his 15th goal of the season past Bachman with the help of forwards Bracken Kearns and Matt Pope.
 
Texas tied the game 2-2 with a goal by Rallo at 13:22. Defenseman Jordie Benn and right wing Sean Backman helped on the goal to force overtime.
 
Only 31 seconds into overtime, Rallo blasted a one-timer for the game-winning goal with the help of center Aaron Gagnon and defenseman Dan Spang for the 3-2 win.
 
Texas travels to Oklahoma City to take on the Barons this Friday, January 28th. The Stars host the Abbotsford Heat on Saturday, January 29th.
