Stars blank Bulldogs, 5-0 Jack Campbell makes 24 saves to down ‘Dogs

CEDAR PARK, Texas – Texas Stars forward Greg Rallo scored twice and goaltender Jack Campbell stopped all 24 shots he faced to lead the Stars (37-22-13-1) to a 5-0 defeat of the Hamilton Bulldogs (33-28-12-0) at Cedar Park Center on Saturday night.

One minute and 26 seconds later, Stars forward Justin Dowling made it a 2-0 game with a wrist shot that beat Bulldogs goaltender Mike Condon. Forward Curtis McKenzie had the only assist on the play.

With less than two minutes to go in the second period, Rallo gave his club a 3-0 lead with a power play goal. Defenceman Maxime Fortunus and forward Brendan Ranford notched assists.

In the third period, defenceman Matt Mangene scored on the power play less than two minutes in, then Rallo added another at 10:29 to put the game out of reach for the ‘Dogs, 5-0. McKenzie, defenceman Jamie Oleksiak and forward Travis Morin, with two, had the assists in the third period.

Condon made 32 saves on 37 shots for the Bulldogs in the loss.

Hamilton was 0-for-3 on the power play, while Texas went 2-for-3 on the man advantage.

With the loss, the ‘Dogs are now three points back of the eighth and final playoff spot in the American Hockey League’s Western Conference with three games to go in the regular season.
