St. Louis offence get busy Series tied 2-2 with Sharks

St. Louis BluesSAN JOSE, Calif. – The St. Louis Blues took game four, with a final score 6-3, and are now tied with the Sharks at two games apiece in the Western Conference Finals.

The Blues found a way to final score against Sharks goaltender Martin Jones, following two back-to-back shut-out victories.  Jones gave up four goals on 19 shots, and was pulled out midway through the second period in favor of James Reimer.  Reimer allowed a goal in seven shots against, in his first post-season appearance with the Sharks.

The Blues gave the start to Jake Allen in the net for this game, in attempt to turn their luck.  The move seemed to have helped, as Troy Brouwer scored on a power play at 6:14 into the first period.  Jori Lehtera also scored at 10:11 to give the Blues the 2-0 lead after one.

In the second period, Kyle Brodziak scored two times. He scored a short-handed goal at 6:09 and again at 10:11.  St. Louis led 4-0 after two periods.

The Sharks finally found the net when Joe Pavelski scored at 1:05, only to be answered by Brouwer again at 3:55. Chris Tierney scored at 6:57, but the Sharks couldn’t find the net again until late in the period.  A third goal at 16:28 would be their last chance by Melker Karlsson, but the empty net goal from Alex Pietranglo would be enough to seal the Sharks ultimate loss.

At 17:49, the game became physical at the whistle, when Carl Gunnarsson and Brenden Dillon each earned a fighting major and Tommy Wingels and Alexander Steen were given misconduct penatlies.

Allen earned the win for the Blues with 31 saves in the net.

Both teams will travel back to St. Louis for game five on Monday, May 23.
