St. Louis Blues Center Prospects

PAPILLION, NE – With solid centermen at the NHL level, the need for the St. Louis Blues to improve the position is not as dire as it is at other positions. With players like Andy McDonald, T. J. Oshie, and Patrik Berglund, the St. Louis Blues have begun to give NHL experience to their more deserving players coming out of the system. While McDonald is past age 30, Berglund and Oshie have just begun their careers. St. Louis has accumulated a wealth of players with NHL potential in the faceoff circle, and with Oshie and Berglund now full time players in St. Louis, the Blues still carry three more legitimate prospects for the future. 1) Philip McRae The Chesterfield, Missouri native has the grittiness and determination to be a stellar power forward in the NHL. While he needs to improve his skating, McRae has shown signs of bringing a very good package to a team needing a strong, physical player. 2) Brett Sonne An aggressive fore checker, Sonne is the perfect third line player given his ability to attack the play and use his size and strength to create uncomfortable situations for the opposing team. Sonne can bring his physical game and ability to create plays to the NHL as long as he continues to work hard. 3) Nicholas Drazenovic A crisp skater with creative puck moving ingenuity, Drazenovic has been slowed early in his career due to injury. Make no matter of it though since he will continue to develop and become a better instinctive player. While Drazenovic is not very physical, he has shown to be getting stronger since he was drafted in 2005. Contact the author at: john.strathman@prohockeynews.com
