The Caps dropped to 24-17-6.

The capitals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a strike by Martin Fehervary.

“We clearly didn’t start on time,” Wild coach Dean Evason said. “We talked about that this morning. They’re probably going to roll in with some momentum from what they did last night, and they did. We didn’t handle it very well. Fortunately, our goaltender did. He started on time, and we had a lot of guys that did but a lot of guys that didn’t.”

Spurgeon tied it, 1-1, in the second, but the Caps regained the lead on a marker from Dylan Strome.

The Wild’s Jonas Brodin  tied the game, 2-2, with his first goal of the season.

Spurgeon then put the Wild ahead, 3-2 in the second with his double.
