The Spitfires came back from a 2-0 deficit over the course of the game to win 4-2 in Erie and the teams 5th in a row.
In the first period, the Spitfires and Otters were deadlocked through the first 10 minutes of the game and the Spits had a 6-2 shot advantage. Just over halfway through the period, the Spitfires would turnover the puck and Erie would score the game’s first goal. Just a few minutes after that Erie would score again but it was determined to be offside and taken away. Just a minute later Erie would score and it would count for a 2-0 lead. The Spitfires had a 13-7 shot advantage after the period.
In the second period, it was another 9 minute stalemate before the Spitfires responded. Peer fed Christopoulos who scored his 20th of the season off the rush. The Spits now trailed 2-1 with 11 minutes left in period 2. The Spitfires would kill off a double minor and give up no goals in the period as the game remained 2-1 heading into the third period.
In the third period, the Spitfires would tie it up just 7:05 into the period. Miedema on a sloppy play at the net scored his 10th. Just over 4 minutes later the Spitfires would net a third unanswered goal to take their first lead of the game. Greentree left all alone in front made a nice deke and scored on the backhand. Maggio had the lone assist on the goal. Late in the period, Maggio would seal the comeback with an empty net goal and the Spitfires would win their 5th straight 4-2.
The Spitfires are back in action tomorrow Saturday December 10th vs Hamilton at the FirstOntario Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:00pm and will be broadcasted on TSN Digital.
