The Spitfires fell to the Steelheads in Mississauga on Saturday afternoon.
In the first period, both teams had their chances but the goalies stood tall. Both the Steelheads and Spitfires wanted to play a fast paced game with a lot of transition play. The Spitfires scored first just under three quarters through the period. It was Alex Christopoulos scoring his 10th goal of the season in transition from Oliver Peer. The Steelheads led in shots 17-10 after the period.
In the second period, the Steelheads scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead.
In the third period, the Steelheads would score two goals in the first minute and a half of the third period to take a 5-1 lead. O’Flaherty would score his 4th of the season unassisted to make it 5-2. Exactly a minute later the Spitfires would strike again. Abraham got the puck to Renwick and his shot went top shelf for his 5th on the season making it a 5-3 game. Mississauga would add a late empty netter and take the game 6-3.
The Spitfires are back in action tomorrow Sunday November 6th when the Frontenacs are in Windsor. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:05pm.
