Spitfires Double Up Sarnia 6-3

The Spitfires let in the first goal just under 5 minutes into the game but then scored 5 goals unanswered to fly to a big 6-3 win in Sarnia.

In he first period, the Spitfires were on their toes for the first 8 minutes of this game. Sarnia hemmed them in their zone and scored the games first goal. The Spitfires flipped the switch just before halfway point of the first period. Abraham scored his first on the season to tie the game at 1. Maillet and Maggio had assists on the goal. In the final minute of the period, Abraham took a turnover at the Sting blueline and walked into the zone and passed the puck to Smith on the backdoor for his first of the season and first as a Spitfire. The Spitfires led 2-1 after the first period but trailed 13-8 in shots.

In the second period, the Spitfires would score 3 unanswered goals from Smith, DeAngelis and Maillet and take a commanding 5-1 lead. Renwick and Cristoforo had assists on the Smith goal. Spellacy and Miedema had assists on DeAngelis’s goal which was the game-winning-goal. Abraham had the lone assist on Maillet’s 3 of the season.

In the third period, the Sting would score 2 goals, one halfway through the period and the other with the net empty and 3 and a half minutes to play. The Spits led 5-3 in the dying minutes of the game and the Sting had the net empty again. Cristoforo got the puck up to Maggio and he passed it ahead to Abraham for an empty net breakaway.

The Spitfires improved to 4-0-1 on the season with 8 points out of 9 points.

Windsor is back in action tomorrow Oct 15th in Owen Sound. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30pm.
