The Spitfires were looking for revenge Friday evening in Guelph and were able to do just that winning 3-2 at the Sleeman Centre Friday evening.

In the first period, the Storm dominated the shot clock and Costanzo had tomake numerous saves. He made 15 saves on 15 shots through the first period and kept out a solid 5 scoring chances for the Storm. Just over 14 minutes into the period, the Storm turned the puck over in neutral ice and Sobolev picked off the pass and got it up the boards to Christopoulos. He walked down the wing and found Smith in the high-slot who sniped his 13th of the season. The Spitfires had six shots through the first period.
In the second frame, both teams had a powerplay chance however both penalty kills were perfect. Guelph would get a second chance on the powerplay and convert on it which tied the game at 1. The Spits would shoot another 10 shots on goal while Guelph had 9, the Storm led 24-16 in shots after 2 periods.
In the third period, it was the Spitfires Captain taking advantage of a turnover. Maillet had a slick behind the back pass to Maggio who skated towards the net and potted his 26th of the season to give the Spitfires a 2-1 lead. The Storm would strike back on a shorthanded breakaway as the Spits penalty expired, Guelph sprung their captain Walker and he scored to tie the game at 2. With under 5 minutes to go in the game, it was the Windsor native Noah Morneau scoring his 4th of the season off a drop pass from O’Flaherty to give he Spitfires a 3-2 lead! The Spitfires would have a late penalty kill and hold on for the win and a crucial 2 points in the standings.
The Spitfires are back in action tomorrow Saturday December 31st for a matchup with the Kitchener Rangers. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:05pm.
