The Ducks were without Ryan Getzlaf who remained on the sideline with an injury.

“Anytime you’re missing a player the level of Getzlaf out of your lineup, our top point-getter, top playmaker and captain, other people have to step and fill the void,” Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. “Our players did that.”

Corey Perry and Ryan Kesler  picked up the slack left over the Getzlaf absence.

Nick Ritchie and Andrew Cogliano  also scored for the Ducks who had three power play goals and a shorthanded marker in the rout.

“It’s a reality check,” Predators defenseman P.K. Subban said. “The reality is that right now, we’re just giving up too much. It starts with taking care of the puck.”

John Gibson  had 28 saves for the win and Pekka Rinne was handed the loss on 13 saves and was pulled in favor of Marek Mazanec who little better in making just seven saves.

Gibson was pitching a shutout when Colin Wilson broke through to erase the shutoiut.

“We have to be tougher to play against. Just generally speaking, 5-on-5 play wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either,” Predators coach Peter Laviolette said of the loss. “Special teams just swung the pendulum tonight in the wrong direction. The shorthanded goals and power play goals are too much for any team. We have to do a better job just being harder to play against, defending our goaltender better and defending our end better.”
