In Vancouver, the visiting Nashville Predators edged the Canucks, 3-2, on Friday night.
Nashville has won five of their last six games.
“It wasn’t the most beautiful game but we found a way to win,” Mikael Granlund (two assists) said. “Obviously we have one guy in net who keeps making these saves and keeping us in the game, so it’s a big road win for us.”
Jusse Saros made 26 saves in the Preds win.
“He makes big saves at big times, and that’s what elite goaltenders do,” Predators head coach John Hynes said. “You can’t win without goaltending and you can’t win without great goaltending, and I think we’ve had that for pretty much all year.”
Brock Boeser and Nils Hoglander were the Vancouver strikers.
“We’ve got a lot of talent here, a lot of guys who can score and make plays and stuff,” Boeser said. “It’s just a matter of bearing down, accepting whatever role you’re put in and playing that role as hard as you can.”
Vancouver was scoreless in five power play chances and surrendered two to the Predators.
“They (power play unit) weren’t very good. It’s pretty simple,” Canucks head coach Travis Green said of the power play.
Roman Josi and Philip Tomasino scored off the power-play for Nashville.
Matt Duchene scored in his third straight game.
“I just think he’s come back with the right mindset this year,” Hines said. “It all came back to him playing fast, skating, being competitive. That allows his skill to come out. He’s assertive, he’s attacking at the right times.”
Thatcher Demko made 25 save in the Canucks loss.
