Smith double leads Predators over Chicago, 4-2 Preds end slide at four - Update to follow

In Nashville, the Predators jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the Chicago Blackhawks in the first period and then held one for a 4-2 win in a Saturday matinee.

Yakov Trenin scored at 12:07 of the first for a 1-0 lead to Nashville, and Gustav Nyquist  hit for a power play goal at 18:32 of the first for the two-goal lead after 20 minutes.

Kevin Lankinen made 29 saves in the win.

The Preds improved to 6-10-0.

The win snapped a four-game skid for Nashville.

Chicago got one back at 13:05 of the middle frame on a strike by Philipp Kurashev.

Cole Smith  hit for the first of his double at 16:20 of the second to push the Nashville lead back to two at 3-1.

The Blackhawks dropped to 5-10-0 off their third straight loss, and fourth in five games.

Chicago crawled back to trim the deficit to 3-2 at 12:14 of the third on a marker form Tyler Johnson .

Smith then hit for his double into an empty net for the 4-2 final with 12 seconds left on the regulation clock.
