In New York, Igor Shesterkin made 19 saves on Tuesday as the Rangers edged the visiting Philadelphia Flyers, 1-0, in extra time.
The Rangers improved to 6-3-2, and have won three straight after going 0-2-2 in their previous four.
The game-winner came with 57 seconds left in the extra session.
The Flyers had rushed the Rangers zone and put a shot wide of the cage to the left.
The Flyers dropped to 5-2-2/
New York’s Vincent Trocheck and Alexis Lafreniere hit iron on shots in the game.
Mika Zibanejad collected the puck on the boards just at the blue line, and sent a lead pass to Chris Kreider who was at the end of his shift.
Kreider had a breakaway and deked left before putting a backhand into the net for the winner.
Shesterkin was forced to make two unnecessarily spectacular saves on Kevin Hayes in the game to keep it scoreless.and
Carter Hart made 35 saves in the Flyers loss.
