A goal within the first 30 seconds of the match was enough for the Steelers to come away with another pre-season win tonight as they came out victorious over the Coventry Blaze.
After defeat on Wednesday night, it now puts the Steelers at 3 wins and 1 loss in pre-season as Coach Fox plays around with his lines before the real action starts next Saturday.
Brett Neumann was the only man to get his name on the scoresheet tonight, 24 seconds after face-off as the returning Brendan Connolly took the puck over the Blaze blue line, sent Dowd down the left wing, who found Neumann in-front of the Blaze crease to tip it home bottom corner.
No further goals in the remaining 60 minutes as both goalies played well to deny the remaining chances. That lead to both goalies picking up their team respective Man of The Match awards, setting Matt Greenfield off on his first Eddy for the club.
The Steelers are back in action tomorrow night in their final pre-season game as we have a return fixture at the Skydome against the Blaze, before the real stuff gets going next Saturday against the Cardiff Devils back at the Utilita Arena. 7pm face-off – See you there!
